Buckskin Babies
Buckskin Babies
"What a special photo shoot we had for this painting. I met up with Skye and family at the San Juan River in Farmington, NM. Skye Blue is the oldest with 3 more siblings. Wild and Thunder are her brothers and Breezy Summer, just arrived the second week of November in '09. I first painted Skye when she was 10 months old." Visit Sharon's Blog to see the photo shoot. . .
The dress Skye is wearing is one that Sharon had purchased at Indian Market in Santa Fe the summer of 08. The beautiful white buckskin dress with purple butterflies was all hand crafted and beaded by Native American artist Elana Pate from Oklahoma. The minute Sharon saw the dress, she knew  it was for Skye to wear. Butterfly is Skye's native name. It took a whole years growth for it to fit her.
The baby doll in the painting is one of Skye’s favorites. She is from the American Girl doll collection. The doll’s name is Kaya, also clad in buckskin.
